two times of day.
Glass on two walls, a wraparound desk with three mic'd stations, and a wood floor.
Why it has windows
By day it fills with light off the tree canopy pressing against the glass. By night the city comes up behind it and the room goes warm and dark. Two completely different rooms, from the same frame, with no lighting kit at all.
Almost every studio and music school in Delhi-NCR is a basement with the lights off at three in the afternoon. We had all worked in rooms like that, and had all noticed the fourth hour in one was worth less than the first. So this room has windows, and the blinds stay open. That is not a decorating decision.
What happens here
Three of us work out of it. We teach production one to one at the main station, we make sample packs from the same sessions, and we write and release our own records under our own names.
They are not three businesses. They are one room, earning three ways — and the teaching is what pays for the rest of it.
